Only new vehicles purchased or leased on May 19, 2015 or after the launch of the program are eligible for CHEAPR. Tax credits for BEVs and PHEVs range from $2,500 to $7,500, with factors such as battery capacity determining how much homeowners can receive. To meet tax incentives, a BEV or PHEV must have a battery with a minimum capacity of 4 kWh. Vehicles with a battery capacity of 5 kWh or more are entitled to an additional tax credit of $417 for each kilowatt-hour greater than 4 kWh. Vehicles such as the Nissan LEAF with a 24 kWh battery are entitled to a maximum credit of USD 7,500. Tax credits for each qualified vehicle are available on the Ministry of Energy`s website. For consumers, your dealer may offer discounts on the purchase of electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) for your private residence at the time of purchase of the vehicle. Discuss your options with your dealer. To qualify for a cheapr incentive when buying or leasing a new electric vehicle eligible for start-up or after the launch of the program, applicants must: resources are limited and all funds are allocated on a first-come first served basis.
If you are buying a vehicle, please refer to the CHEAPR Available Funding and note that if you decide to buy or rent a vehicle, no financing may be available. The CHEAPR ends when the program`s resources are exhausted. If you are a business or municipality and would like to install a publicly available electric vehicle charging station, please see the available evConnecticut Incentives. In the past, significant subsidies have been provided for the construction of publicly available charging stations. If the federal electric vehicle tax credit expires or is cancelled, it will not affect the CHEAPR-Incentive program. The CHEAPR-Incentive program is a state program in Connecticut and independent of the federal electric vehicle tax credit. Vehicles must be purchased or leased to qualify on or after the program`s launch date, May 19, 2015. CHEAPR applications must be submitted no later than 10 calendar days after the date of purchase or lease of an eligible vehicle. Applications submitted before the purchase date or lease are not accepted. In most cases, the application process is completed on the day of purchase or rental.
